This past weekend at the Jazz Cafe in UK, music lovers were treated to a two-night concert in celebration of Michael Jackson’s birthday. It’s no secret that the Jazz Cafe stays doing it right, but they upped the ante with SoulBounce faves Eric Roberson and Phonte on the bill for this musical treat. To say that this was a show not to be missed that needs to make its way to the US so that I can see it for myself–and, oh yeah, y’all, too–is an understatement. Thanks to the magic of YouTube, those of us who weren’t in attendance get to see Tay and Erro put their respective thangs down as they tackle “Billie Jean” and “Lady In My Life.” Phonte is especially impressive with his MiJac swagger, outfit and dance moves complete with Moonwalk, and his chant at the end of his performance has me laughing so hard I’ve been reduced to tears. Hit the bounce to hear Eric put a hurting on “Lady” while dong double duty as host for the evening. This looks like it was an incredible musical tribute to the King of Pop.

Today, August 29, is Michael Jackson’s birthday. It’s truly sad how we lost a legend. His untimely death shook us all. People who weren’t fans of Michael even felt the impact of his death. I am grateful for his music and contributions to the world. Speculations and allegations about his involvement in any criminal activity should be laid to rest. It’s obvious many viewed his life as “abnormal” or “eccentric” but think about what “normal” is and ask yourself would someone from down the street or around the world consider you normal! I chose to post “Stranger in Moscow” because its one of the many songs where Michael expresses his feelings about his personal struggles. It’s a really sad, but revealing song.

Rund 2 Monate nach dem Tod des Popstars am 25. Juni 2009 ist es offiziell: Michael Jackson wurde getötet!
In der abschließenden Autopsie der Gerichtsmedizin heißt es, Jackson sei einem Tötungsdelikt zum Opfer gefallen und an einer akuten Vergiftung durch das Betäubungsmittel Propofol verstorben.
Bei den Ermittlungen wird sein persönlicher Leibarzt Conrad Murray als Hauptverdächtiger geführt. Aus bisherigen Untersuchungen ging hervor, dass Murray seinen prominenten Patienten vor dessen Tod schon 6 Wochen wegen schwerer Schlaflosigkeit behandelt hatte, unter anderem auch mit Propofol.
Neben dem starken Beruhigungsmittel Propofol trugen außerdem einige andere Medikamente zu seinem Tod bei. Darunter auch das Beruhigungsmittel Lorazepam (in den USA unter dem Namen Ativan vertrieben). Keinen direkten Einfluss auf Jacksons Tod hatten die Medikamente Diazepam (=Valium) und Midazolam (= Versed).
Heute wäre Michael Jacksons Geburtstag gewesen. Er wäre 51 Jahre alt geworden!

La enfermera de Michael Jackson se defiende. Después de hacerse público los resultados de la autopsia, que revelaban que fue el propofol causó la muerte del cantante el doctor Conrad Murray sugirió que quizá fue la enfermera quien le dio un cóctel del potente anestésico. Cherilyn Lee, sin embargo, ha dejado claro que sólo le preparó una “inyección nutricional”, según publica la Web TMZ .
El portal estadounidense de noticias, el primero en dar la noticia de la muerte de Jackson, insinúa que hay “algo interesante” en las palabras de esta enfermera.
La mujer dice que cuando ella vió al cantante a su regreso en abril, no tenía marcas de agujas en su cuerpo.
En contraste, con el resultado oficial de la autopsia, revelado hace 24 horas en los que se lee que Jackson estaba acribillado de pinchazos.
De acuerdo con el testimonio de Lee, ella sólo le inyectó un cóctel nutricional de “Vitamina C, principalmentalmente”.
Tras la publicación del último informe policial que señalaba que el potente anestésico fue el responsable de la muerte del artista, el doctor Murray y ahora la enfermera tratan de descargarse cualquier responsabilidad que puede implicarlos legalmente.

OK, so, removing the Preamble entry, this is the 100th post on The Buzz!!
Thank you to everyone who has read, shared, inspired, and commented here. It’s been an absolute thrill to get to know you (or know you better!). I try to provoke discussion, so I definitely appreciate people who tell me I’m wrong!
I gave a lot of thought on what to do for the big 100th post, whether it be a list, a retrospective, etc. As you know, we cover a lot of different ground here, from PR, social media, sports, pop culture and more.
Music, however, is very important to me. I was a bar mitzvah DJ when I was in high school, and transitioned to radio while I was in college.
I’ve always been fascinated with a concept I call “The Soundtrack of My Life.” The jist is, you pick 18 songs that MUST be included in a biopic movie about your life. No other rules apply. Any piece of recorded music is fair game. I made several CDs trying to capture this essence, and every one of them was different. Of course, the 18 songs will change as you have new experiences, are exposed to more music, have more life to cram into 18 tracks, and so on. This IS not a favorite songs list. This is music to be played in your life story. Some of them are included for instrumentals, others for lyrics, and most, hopefully, for both.

Claiming he isn’t motivated by money, Prince Michael Malachi Jet Jackson, who goes by Malachi, has thrown his name in the hat of possible love children of the King of Pop. “Malachi has been told his entire life that he is Michael Jackson’s son. His primary goal is to have closure on whether or not Michael was his father, and he wants a DNA test to prove it. Malachi’s motivation isn’t money,” LaRue Grim said. “Malachi looks exactly like Michael Jackson,” Grim added.
“I’m seeking a DNA test and I’m very concerned that it be reliable and that no one slips in DNA from a stranger. Malachi never met Michael … from what I understand Michael Jackson was very private about his personal life.”
A birth certificate was submitted with his claim lists “Michael Joseph Jackson” of Indiana as the father and Zerline LaVette Dixon as the mother.

Lääkäri viivytteli hätänumeroon soittamista
Väitteiden mukaan Michael Jacksonin lääkäri vietti 47 minuttia puhelimessa sen jälkeen, kun Jacksonin hengitys oli pysähtynyt, kertoo uutistoimisto Bang Showbiz.
Tohtori Conrad Murrayn väitetään soittaneen ensiksi kollegalleen Arnold Kleinille kysyäkseen neuvoa. Sen jälkeen hän tiettävästi soitti lakimiehelle ja vielä tuntemattomalle henkilölle ennen kuin pyysi turvamiestä soittamaan hätänumeroon. Samaan aikaan Jackson taisteli hengestään.
Murray on kiistänyt syytökset puhelinsoitoista.
Murrayta epäillään taposta liittyen Jacksonin kuolemaan, jota tutkitaan nyt murhana. Murray väitti aiemmin, että hän yritti elvyttää hengetöntä Jacksonia, mutta julkisuuteen vuotaneet viralliset dokumentit kertovat muuta.

IL...with the visit to CA State Fair 09
The visit to the California State Fair was a success. Here is the low down of what happened.
When we first arrived we went through all the exhibits. First one was all about candy! Here is a great pic of Ronald Reagan made up of jelly beans!
We of course went to my favorite exhibit, which was the county exhibit. I was actually a little disappointed this year. I don’t feel like there were a lot of strong ones, but here is a pic of my favorite. I believe it is Placer County:
By this time we were all feeling the heat, although I kept reminding myself that it was definitely cooler in CA than it was in TX. We all decided to get something cool. I found a slush puppy stand. I love slush puppies. So many great memories. My mom use to take me to the Quick Stop by my pre-school all the time to get them. At the stand you could pick your own. I mixed Watermelon and Pina Colada. It was heavenly.
As we walked around we found out that a couple of the rides from Michael Jackson’s Neverland were there and they had some cutouts and a sign to go with. Joe and I were the only two that were super excited about it and we just had to take a picture with MJ
One of the main reasons why I wanted to go to the fair was because David Cook was playing. There was an opening band, but I didn’t like them at all. I decided to go get my corn dog during their set. But when David came on I was sittin’ in my crowded lawn seat. I loved the show! I think David did so well. The only bummer was that he went longer than I thought he would and so I only got to see the very end of the hypnotist. But it’s OK…it was coming to the end of the night, but we wanted one more fair treat. We decided to go get frozen chocolate bananas!
They were so good! Definitely get one. It is worth it.
The trip to the fair was fun. Thanks to Jenna, Hannah P, Hannah A, Nick, Emily, Brian, Ryan, D-Hall, and Joe for coming with me. I had a great time.

Deu na telha

Queridos amigos, entrem e fiquem à vontade pois a casa é nossa! Sejam, mais uma vez, bem-vindos ao Diário Papeando. Hoje é terça e, desta vez, “deu na telha” escrever o post mais mal humorado e implicante da história do blog.
- Dado Dolabella venceu o reality show da Record, “A Fazenda”. E a pergunta que não quer calar é: e eu com isso?! Primeiro porque este blogueiro tem repulsa a tal tipo de atração televisiva cuja a única instrução passada é a de que “esse é irmão desse” e vice-versa. Além disso, Brito Jr., bom jornalista, foi desperdiçado no programa. Aliás, baita desperdício de grana da Record – se bem que, pelas investigações em torno de Edir Macedo, grana é o que não falta – com cenários e com prêmios dados (sem trocadilhos com o vencedor do programa) a pessoas que já estão ricas. Fora tudo isso, as poucas cenas que vi (no youtube, só pra dar risada, diga-se) mostram que era tudo muito anti-natural. Pra quem viu e achou que não era armação um prêmio: bengala branca, óculos escuros e cão labrador. Para completar, eu era muito mais a excelente roqueira Danni Carlos que o sofrível ator Dado Dolabella. Em resumo: que peninha que acabou “A Fazenda”!!!
- Sabe qual é a nova proposta que circula no Senado? Acabar com o Conselho de Ética. Até o presidente da Casa, José Sarney está apoiando. Logo ele que mais razões teria para beijar as mãos dos senadores do conselho. Parece que depois de mais de 50 anos de vida pública, Sarney está, enfim, querendo viver perigosamente, sair da barra da saia da mamãe. Sim, porque com tanta politicagem o Senado é uma mãe com que pisa fora da faixa. Aliás, uma avó, com direito a cafuné na careca e beliscões carinhosos no bigode. Mas, quer saber de uma coisa, eu tô com ele e não abro! É melhor riscar logo o nome do Conselho de Ética do caderno das instituições brasileiras. Afinal, é só no papel do caderno que o Conselho de fato tem Ética…
- Parece que agora não tem mais jeito: Michael Jackson morreu mesmo, né? Já descobriram até a causa mortis do cantor: overdose de anestésicos e calmantes. Vão mesmo indiciar o Dr. Conrad Murray, médico do astro. E é possível que até mesmo o corpo do Rei do Pop seja enterrado até o fim deste ano. Espero que, junto com o corpo, enterrem também o assunto “Michael Jackson” e me deixem finalmente dormir uma noite sem ter pesadelos com “Thriller” após ver o último noticiário da TV.
- O Governo do Estado do Rio de Janeiro anunciou que somará forças para inaugurar, até outubro, um curral sanitário para abrigar os animais apreendidos nas rodovias fluminenses. Em compensação, os pardais voltam a multar após as 22 horas. Do que se entende que a prioridade do governo nas estradas são os cavalos e não os motoristas. Ah, já ia esquecendo: a bandidagem mandou avisar que na noite de hoje “vai rolar a festa” nos pardais que exigem velocidade inferior a 40 km/h, quem quiser pode chegar. Só deixo um conselho para os que quiserem comparecer: não vá de carro. Afinal, até outubro você ainda pode atropelar um ingênuo cavalinho que passeia pela rua.
Caros leitores, se vocês me permitem, vou me ausentar agora. Mamãe preparou um chazinho de camomila com um comprimidinho de Maracugina pra mim. Enquanto eu me acalmo vocês podem ficar papeando por aqui, tá bom?

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles County coroner has ruled Michael Jackson’s death a homicide, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press, a finding that makes it more likely criminal charges will be filed against the doctor who was with the pop star when he died.
The coroner determined a fatal combination of drugs was given to Jackson hours before he died June 25 in his rented Los Angeles mansion, according to the official who spoke on condition of anonymity because the findings have not been publicly released. Forensic tests found the powerful anesthetic propofol acted together with at least two sedatives to cause Jackson’s death, the official said.
Dr. Conrad Murray, a Las Vegas cardiologist who became Jackson’s personal physician weeks before his death, is the target of a manslaughter investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department. According to a search warrant affidavit unsealed Monday in Houston, Murray told investigators he administered a 25 mg dose of propofol around 10:40 a.m. after spending the night injecting Jackson with two sedatives in an unsuccessful attempt to get him to sleep.

It has been nearly two months. Whether Dr. Conrad Murray is found guilty or not, he will lose his medical license. Propofol should never be given in a non-hospital setting because it is a powerful drug. Dr. Murray could of stopped right there and told Jackson that he would not give drugs to him because it is not good for him and is not safe to give in a non-hospital setting.
This will be news to come for some time. Hopefully, Jackson’s death will put drug addiction on the fore front. Drug addiction is very serious and harms everyone involved.
