Agora Louboutin virou champgne.

Information Overload!

I am officially on information overload this week, but, damn, that is a GREAT thing! I’ve had something new to focus on, and for the first time in three months, I’ve felt pure excitement over something. It’s amazing how much I didn’t realize how upset I had been over recent happenings (Michael’s death, Maria’s death, and recent crap at work).

At one point in my little beratement session with my supervisor last week, she said that people had said that I have been acting blank, staring into space, like I’m not really there. And despite her cruel intentions, I know it’s true. I remember being at work when I read the story that Michael was finally going to be buried on his birthday (which turned out to be false), and I burst into tears. It’s just so bizarre that he is not here. When Maria died, I don’t know how I kept myself together. Seeing her partner, Amy, at the memorial was absolutely heart wrenching. It absolutely kills me that someone so young (30s) could have to deal with breast cancer for several years and then succumb to it. The world is not fair, and I don’t pretend to understand how it works. I don’t think I want to understand.

I found out this week that a co-worker of mine was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She ended up quitting, because she was going to be off for awhile for the treatment (and she had issues with our supervisor, too). It’s rather scary, because just six months ago I was dealing with pre-cancerous cervical treatments. I go back in a month. I hope I’m in the clear. I just can’t describe the feeling in your body when you get a phone call telling you need to come in because your test results aren’t normal. I’m a nurse, and I’m trained to stay calm; yet I still got that hot flash of panic throughout my body. I’m only 28-years-old. My coworker is in her early 30s. I’ve seen way too many people ravaged by cancer. In critical care, I see people at the worst possible moments in their lives. It gives you a unique perspective on life.

I was told, recently, by someone I really admire, that I have a very positive attitude. It made me think. I guess, overall, I do. Granted, I have my moments of being pissed off, swearing like a sailor, and general disgust with the world at large (or someone in particular, it varies!). After everything that I have been through in my life (and much help to process all of it), I think I made the conscious decision to approach life in this way. When I was in my late teens/early twenties and really baring the brunt of it all, I was convinced that I would die before the age of 25. I couldn’t see anything past that age. I think that was how bad it got– I couldn’t bear to see the future in my subconscious mind, so that is how it translated.

I think I have a built in survival mechanism that helps me to cope with overload. Dog knows that I didn’t think I would make it through this summer; Yet here it is fall. I can feel the cool, brisk wind rushing over my skin, and I hear the rustle in the changing leaves. I know that I am not the same person I was this spring. Nor certainly the same person I was last fall. I am a different isotope of Erin now.

"I want you back" by The Jackson five - 1970

When I had you to myself
I didnt want you around
Those pretty faces always made you
Stand out in a crowd
Then someone picked you from the bunch
One glance was all it took
Now its much too late for me
To take second look

Oh baby give me one more chance
To show you that I love you
Wont you please send me back in your heart

Oh darlin I was blind to let you go
But now since I see you in his arms
I want you back
Yes I do now
I want you back
Oo oo baby
Yeah yeah….naw…..

Trying to live without your love
Is one long sleepless night
Let me show you girl
That I know wrong from right

Every street you walk on
I leave tear stains on the ground
Following the girl
I didnt even want around

Abuh buh buh buh
All I want!
Abuh buh buh buh
All I need!
Abuh buh buh buh…….

Trilha sonora

A trilha sonora do documentário será lançada em um disco duplo intitulado “This is it” no dia 26 do próximo mês. Antes, no dia 12, a Sony lançará o single “this is it”, canção inédita do rei do pop.

"This Is It" - phim về Micheal Jackson phát hành tại Việt Nam đầu tháng 11

Lao Động Cuối tuần số 38 Ngày 20/09/2009 Cập nhật: 12:18 AM, 20/09/2009 Poster của bộ phim “This Is It” sắp được ra mắt ngày 28.10.

Đoạn phim tràn đầy những ca khúc nổi tiếng của MJ như “Man in the Mirror”, “Smooth Criminal”, “Billie Jean”…

“This Is It” được thực hiện bởi đạo diễn Kenny Ortega ( đạo diễn của loạt phim ca nhạc dành cho teen rất thành công High School Musical).

Nó cho khán giả cảm tưởng như họ đang đi xem liveshow “This Is It” thật sự chứ không chỉ nhìn MJ luyện tập.

Michael Jackson: America’s Favorite Victim of Racism

By voxunion.com

Michael Jackson was undoubtedly one of the most influential talents of the 20th century and the most glaring example of the psychological effects of coming of age in a racist society. Just 40 years ago Jackson joined his brothers to force the world to contemplate the resilience of African-American culture and talent barely a year after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. But as Jackson came of age, his physical metamorphosis was a great distraction from his amazing talents; fans and foes alike questioned his sanity and laughed at his face which seemed more like a melting mask in his later years. Yet few stopped to ponder why he or anyone else would take the steps to physically transform themselves as Michael did.

As TV anchor Meredith Viera paid tribute to actress Farah Fawcett on NBC by describing her as “…the woman every girl wanted to look like”, I couldn’t help but wonder what some black girls might have gone through to look like her in a media educated society where Fawcett was the epitome of beauty – and how much further they would have gone if they had Michael Jackson’s money.

Michael was just as much a victim as we all are of the overwhelming media reinforcement of whiteness as the symbol for all things good, successful and beautiful. Blacks who challenged this idea were characterized as radical and threatening. Jackson himself was rewarded with greater popularity as he changed his nose, skin and hair to more Eurocentric features. Others in the entertainment industry without his resources were not so lucky. The “black models’ revolt” a couple years ago brought paltry attention to white preference in the entertainment industry. A study by professors at the University of Chicago and MIT in 2003 found that the negative stereotyping of non-whiteness was not limited to physical features but was even being applied to names. The study found that résumés with “white-sounding” names received up to 50% more responses than those with “black-sounding” names.

In the eve of his career, Jackson used his music to challenge racial stereotypes and was even quoted as regarding some top record industry giants as racist and exploitive of blacks. It seemed as if it took a lifetime for Jackson to wake up to the reality of his victimhood. But what about those of us that are left behind to mourn or laugh at Jackson’s legacy? I think it would serve us well to heed Dr. John Henrik Clarke’s advice to “reclaim the minds of our children… [because] when other people control what we think about ourselves, they will also control what we do about ourselves.”

Michael jackson-the man who touched millions with his songs

MJ- This Is It!

“How many people will have to die

before we will take a stand

How many children will have to cry,

before we do all we can

To love and to teach you

To hold and to need you

What more can I give

Just call my name, I am your friend”

September 11, made MJ’s heart cry and these words came straight from his heart. Truly, nothing can really be said about the man who touched millions whether they were black or white; yellow or brown; rich or poor; educated or not. The genius who gave us Thriller, Dangerous, Black or White, Heal the world, and record breaking albums, many don’t know supported 39 charities and believed in the power of giving…..

GREATEST DAY EVER.

Hello everyone!!!

Let me talk to you about the cool thing we did on Tuesday!  First of all, SFJ and SFJ2 (Jackie Lam!) came to work with the 4Fives.  You already know about SFJ, but you probably don’t know SFJ2.  SFJ2 is Superforester Jackie.  He writes on Superforest, which is the very, very, very BEST blog in the entire world.  It was great having SFJ2 visit us, and he’s coming back, so you will get to keep reading about him.

A lot of things happened on Tuesday, but I am going to tell you about my favorite part.  It was about Michael Jackson.  Michael Jackson wrote a song called Thriller.  Bee, SFJ, and SFJ2 are all obsessed with Michael Jackson, so they let us watch the video on our SmartBoard (I am going to learn how to put pictures up today, so check back later on for pictures). It is the best song ever. Michael Jackson is also a great dancer. Michael Jackson was the best dancer in the world. He wore white socks so people would look that his feet when he was dancing.  He was a dance god.

We’re thinking about doing the Michael Jackson Thriller dance for Halloween as a class. It is going to be so much fun. The Thriller dance is about Michael Jackson turning into a werewolf and other zombies that dance and it is a really good dance.

We were all happy to see the Thriller video. When Bee said that we are going to learn the Thriller dance for Halloween, we were VERY happy.  Thriller is amazing. We all hope we can do the Thriller dance for Halloween.

I hope that Michael Jackson is RIP because he was the greatest dancer who ever lived.

I really hope you like this post, because I am going to be writing a lot about Michael Jackson this year.

Cool!

Adrian

A Higher Standard

As I was watching the funeral services and remembrances of Sen. Edward Kennedy, there were critics voicing their opinions about his life and the mistakes he had made, like the 1969 accident at Chappaquiddick resulting in the death of Mary Jo Kopechne.

During the endless hours of television and radio programs devoted to the death of Michael Jackson, detractors did the very same thing, constantly reminding us of the many legal battles he had to fight over his alleged affection for boys.

Every day we get reports of sport figures being caught up in the use of steroids and other enhancement drugs to improve their performance on the field.

At the same time we are denouncing these people, we put them on pedestals of admiration. For whatever reason a person may have, these “stars” become heroes.

That’s a load of poppycock as far as I am concerned.

My heroes are the men and women who put their life on the line daily in the military or law enforcement. They are the fire fighters and EMT workers who risk their lives and devote themselves to saving others. They are the teachers, who have to work many hours outside of the classroom during what should be their personal time to prepare class materials, and grade assignments and tests. They are the doctors and nurses that stay up many hours, wracking their brains for the answer to some medical quandary. And they are the average man and woman who works hard, long, hot hours to bring home enough money to support their family—keep a roof over their head, meals on the table, medical care, and hopefully a few extra dollars to take the family out for a pizza and a movie once in awhile.

These are heroes. They don’t ask for glory or honor. They simply want to do their job the best they can, and never give a thought to the praise they deserve and never get.

Paul Newman, a very talented actor, and a noble philanthropist said he never understood celebrity. To paraphrase him: “I act and I am paid very well for it. But that’s all I do. I don’t understand the adoration. I’m no better than the average guy or girl. I do my job, collect my money and go home. That’s how it should be.”

We place people on high pedestals, and when they tumble we are horrified and quick to complain. Rarely did they place themselves there. We did it, and we hold them to a unrealistic higher standard.

There is not a person reading this that hasn’t led a life that would seem less than ideal under the x-rays of investigation. Everyone has his or her skeletons. At times it seems like I need more closet space built just to house them in.

Maybe it’s time we stop holding anyone to a higher standard. They are just plain folks like you and me that have been given the opportunity to do something extraordinary, and placed, many times unwillingly, in the limelight.

If you’re a parent, you are a hero to your child. If you are the friend of someone desperately in need of a friend, you are their hero. If you reach down to help someone up, then you are a hero. And if you stoop down to give aid, or comfort for someone in need, someone with a disability or perhaps a child, then you are a hero.

Let’s tear down all the pedestals. Let’s see those we place there as the same as us. After all, that’s all they are.

Gossip; Anna Nicole Smith, Mackenzie Phillips, Amy Winehouse

Anna Nicole Smith’s former psychiatrist and Khristine Eroshevich and internist Sandeep Kapoor are in deep trouble. Both were having extremely unprofessional relationships with Anna Nicole. Khristine was seen naked in a tub with Anna and Kapoor shirtless and kissing with her. Both had also asked so many drugs for her that three pharmacists refused to fill their prescriptions for Anna because they thought it might kill her. It’s a pity Anna did not get the professional help she needed, those two people failed on all accounts. The difference between Anna Nicole and Michael Jackson is that I think Anna would have been able to lead a fairly normal life with the right people around her at a later age and Michael was probably already too screwed up from his youth.

Wow, MacKenzie Phillips from “One life to live” and daughter of the founder of The Mamas and the Papas, John Phillips, told some shocking details of her youth to Oprah. She and her father had an incestuous relationship and he was also the first one to inject heroin into her arm. No wonder she is still so screwed up and a druggie, girl never had chance in hell to a normal life.

Amy Winehouse has been terrorizing school kids in Camden!! She stormed into a school in South London yesterday and confronted the bully of god-daughter. She cursed the girl out and later spat in her face. She then started screaming at some of the other kids at the school before cooling down and signing some autographs. Perez Hilton called her a bad role model and she is but I can kind of understand her. If one of my nephews would have been teased at school I might have done the same, except for the spitting/signing autographs!! that is.

Breves & Curtas #4

BREVES & CURTAS MUSICAL COM MICHAEL JACKSON, LUA NOVA E MUITO MAIS…

UMA PALHINHA… – … do que podemos esperar com o lançamento do documentário sobre a turnê ‘This It It‘ que Michael Jackson faria se não viesse a falecer.

http://www.movieweb.com/video/VIKf7SKSdki9NS

Assim do nada?

- “Meet me on the Equinox”, por Death Cab for Cutie
- “Friends”, por Band of Skulls
- “Hearing Damage”, por Thom Yorke
- “Possibilty”, por Lykke Li
- “A White Demon Love Song”, por The Killers
- “Sattelite Heart”, por Anya Marina
- “I Belong to You”, por Muse
- “Rosyln”, por Bon Iver & Sr. Vincent
- “Done All Wrong”, por Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
- “Monsters”, por Hurricane Bells
- “The Violet House”, por Sea Holf
- “Shooting the Moon”, por Ok Go
- “Slow Life”, por Grizzly Bear
- “No Sound but the Wind”, por Editors
- “New Moon”, por Alexandre Desplat

'Tough' talking Michael Jackson

The NewsNWorld has uncovered a series of Michael Jackson “talked tough” and had a deep voice.

According to one of the late pop superstar’s closest friends, concert promoter David Gest, Michael’s real voice was heavy and powerful and nothing like the high-pitched whimper he used when speaking publicly.

David said: “I’m showing an interview I did with Michael that shows him talking in his real voice, like, ‘C’mon David, let’s get it done now.’ “

Mimicking Michael’s famous high-pitched tone, he added: “You know – he doesn’t talk like, ‘Hi, how are you?’ He talks very, very tough. I’m telling you the truth.”

Fans were shocked earlier this year when Michael announced his ‘This Is It’ London residency in an unusually deep voice – which prompted speculation as to whether an impersonator had appeared instead of the ‘King of Pop’.

David, 56, is making a documentary called ‘My Best Friend Michael’ which he promises will show this real side of the ‘Thriller’ singer.

Since his untimely passing in June, David has been in regular contact with the Jackson family, and revealed Michael’s mother Katherine is struggling with the loss of her son.

Appearing on British TV show ‘Live From Studio Five’, David – who had Michael as his best man when he married Liza Minnelli in 2002 – said: “I went to the funeral about two months ago and I speak to his mother about every week.

“It’s very hard on Mrs. Jackson, to bury a son when a son’s supposed to bury a mother. She’s trying to cope, but she’s a very strong woman, she helped raise me when I was a kid.”

New York, We Have to Talk...

New York and I have had a good run. For more years than I’d care to admit, we’ve been really happy together.

I’ve had plenty of those Only-in-NY Moments. Take, for example, the homeless guy who peed in an empty bag of potato chips on the E train on my morning commute once. Or the Michael Jackson birthday party in Prospect Park. Stuff like that doesn’t happen anywhere else…and I guess there’s a sort of pride attached to it when you live here and you get to go to those things because you’ve made a conscious decision to be here.

I’ve had my fair share of celebrity sightings: Dianne Wiest, Gabriel Byrne (we live in the same ‘hood — he used to go to Cafe Scaramouche before it became Buttermilk Channel), Debra Messing, Uma Thurman, Steve Buscemi, Chase Crawford, Mario Cantone, and that tall guy from Law & Order SVU. Denny Doherty of the Mamas and the Papas starred in the musical that was performing at the theater where I worked my first summer in New York. And I interviewed the Naked Cowboy once…and had “Hi Lisa, it’s Naked…” on my voicemail for a really long time.

I’ve had some really good times here and I’ve met a lot of wonderful people and I’m so, so glad I did that big, scary thing and moved here by myself all those years ago.

And for a long time — whether because of work or school or my own personal dramas — I’ve sort of been gliding along here. I built myself a home. And for the first time since California circa 1994, I’ve felt like there’s this one place in the world where I belong. And, sure, I hate the uncertainty of freelancing and wish things had turned out differently post-J-school, but…for the most part, I’ve been fine. Sure, it’s a busy place that sucks a lot out of you…and I always looked forward to escaping to Alaska because it’s pretty much the exact opposite of New York in every way and I could actually slow down for a bit and breathe in new surroundings and see places that were untouched by virtually anything and come back feeling like I could face everything again.

No more Alaska though — this year I went to Arizona and New Mexico. The trip had about the same effect, I guess…but returning to New York in July was the first time I haven’t actually been excited about coming back. Usually I can’t wait to get back to my apartment and my life. But I didn’t feel that way this year. And, for the first time, I started noticing things that never bothered me before — it’s dirty; it’s crowded; it’s full of egomaniacs.

Then I went away again — and the same thing happened upon my return. I just don’t feel the same about being here anymore. And somewhere along the way in either Colorado or Illinois on my *next* trip, it hit me: I think I’m ready to leave New York. I’m happier when I’m not here.

And, granted, it’s not exactly reality when I’m away because I don’t have to spend eight, ten, twelve hours in front of a computer writing asset management stories or applying for jobs or pitching freelance ideas or working on the Great American Novel (…or copywriting)…so maybe it isn’t entirely fair to blame unhappiness directly on New York. But, at the same time, I’ve done some freelance work while I’ve been away…and I still think it’s safe to say I’m happier in other places. (A New York friend even observed that I look happier in the photos on Facebook that were taken in other cities…)

Last weekend was my first weekend back in a long time. And I made lasagna and empanadas (which turned out BEAUTIFUL because I watched one of the chefs at Xoco very, very carefully and tried to mimic what she did…). And I realized how happy cooking makes me. (That’s one bad thing about so much traveling — I haven’t really cooked much.) I don’t really have the budget or the appetite to cook every day…but on those days that I do, the act itself always makes me happy…which sort of begs the question of culinary school, but that’s a whole other can of worms I’m not really ready to open yet. (Plus, writing still makes me happier than anything. So, ideally, I’ll be able to forge out a living combining the two someday…)

For now, I’m expanding my job search…and we’ll see what happens. (It’s never a bad thing to have additional options, right?) If I get my dream job in New York, I’ll stay. I’ll put up with insane rent and try to make an agent fall in love with my book proposal and maybe someday I’ll be on The View telling the ladies what a rough spot it was in ‘08-’09 before my life really took off.

Or…maybe the reason nothing has worked out here is because I’m not meant to stay. Maybe I should really be somewhere else. (The problem is that my life is in so many places…I don’t know where to go. For a long time I’ve said that I think my wedding will be the only day in my life when everyone I love is actually in the same place. Although I guess the glass-is-half-full spin is that I could really go anywhere. And that got me thinking about how happy I was when I lived in England…and that it’s crazy that I haven’t been back in seven years…so I think a trip to London is imminent.)

The sort of depressing part is that job opportunities didn’t expand exponentially when I started looking across the country. There is a pretty darn good one in Dallas…and a sort of okay one in Denver…but other than that, I really haven’t seen anything. (So…maybe it’ll be culinary school after all, eh?)

Nevertheless, I spent the good part of a morning this week looking at apartments in Dallas and realized that for less than half of what I am paying now, I could get an apartment with an actual bedroom and a dishwasher and a washer/dryer and access to pools and fitness centers and all sorts of crazy stuff. And I could finally get a golden retriever! (I even looked at breeders in Texas and found one that traced the lineage of its puppies on its Web site and the father of a litter that was due last September was related somewhere along the line to a dog named Miss Racey Lacey. Gotta be some sort of sign, right?)

If I was still exceedingly happy in New York…or if I was even taking advantage of living here anymore, I wouldn’t be looking beyond its limits. But I think I’m ready for a change. And now all I have to do is figure out what that actually means.

Upper Deck Is Going To Break My Heart!

It was bound to happen. I predicted shortly after the shocking death of Michael Jackson that card companies would begin releasing his cards. Already this year we’ve been treated to a Razor National Exclusive 1/1 cut signature and four Upper Deck X short prints released with the UDx brand.

Well, in case you missed it on the Upper Deck blog, the men & women from Carlsbad have acquired a signed ‘Thriller’ photograph which they plan on destroying cutting for a Prominent Cuts signature for the upcoming release. While I am thrilled (no pun intended) to see MJ continuing to get love from The Hobby, surely this piece could be saved, no?

Why not make the entire photo a redemption card? The lucky collector who pulls it could have the entire PSA/DNA autographed photo in a frame to add to their collection or sell on eBay. Either way, you would think that it would be a better alternative than cutting up the picture.

I’ve just seen way too many lousy cut signatures from all the companies to know that one bad snip and a possible Card of the Year contender could end up as one of the worst cards of 2009. Speaking with Upper Deck’s Chris Carlin, he informed me that at this time he was not sure how the card would be treated seeing as MJ’s signature is so big.

Even after his death, Michael Jackson is still larger than life.

Outros nomes presentes no listão do astro:

O promotor público Tom Sneddon que conduziu o processo movido contra Michael por pedofilia;

O empresário Tommy Mottola, marido de Thalia e magnata da Sony Music;

The visit

Rumors of this blog’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. In an attempt to destroy self-bets involving cheeseburgers, and to dispel rumors that I’ve died or been abducted or joined a cult, I post once again.

Flashback to the 30th of July (whooshing sound effect goes here).

For the graphic design class, we set a date for our visit to ITLA (Instituto Tecnológico de Las Américas, and I’ll leave you to figure out the translation). A Thursday afternoon seemed to work we best for most of us, although I was very concerned that I wouldn’t be early for my 5:00 class.

We agreed to meet at the southern gates of Mordor, early in the afternoon. As I’d been having more health issues than I usually do, I had to get up and have lunch earlier than the usual, so my food would have time to settle.

I got there just in time … to see that only one other person in class had arrived. I had some waiting to do before everyone got there, so I went to print some work that I had for my 5:00 class. When I went back to the gates, no one else had arrived. I had the camera with me, of course, and I checked if the batteries were working properly and made a few test shots.

All but three people in class arrived (two weren’t going, and one was “on his way”), in addition to the teacher and her husband, who would be driving us. Four others had withdrawn from class already, bringing it down to six, of which only four were going on this trip.

The one who was on his way was stuck in traffic, so we all managed to fit in the small car, driven by the teacher’s husband, with the other guy meeting us at a halfway point. Taking advantage of the situation, I readied the camera and made several car-window shots (even though I was in the middle of the back seat). At one point, we passed that evil school I graduated from and, almost immediately, some newspapers that were in the back were rustled by the wind and began to attack us. It was the school’s doing. I’m sure of it!

After crossing the Juan Pablo Duarte bridge, we drove some way ahead and waited for the other guy to join us. We had stopped at one of the many places where transit is at its most chaotic, and were looking in every direction, waiting for a sign. After a long while, his car stopped in front of us, and he took out his hand to indicate to us that he was willing to take two passengers (well, that, or he was just making the peace sign). Myself and a girl in class quickly got out of the car and ran toward his. That way, each car carried three occupants.

It was better for me this way, because the trip was finally made comfortable, and even enjoyable. I was alone in the back seat, the air conditioning was at full power and the guy (whose middle name is my first) is a big, big fan of Michael Jackson, and perhaps had a bigger rediscovery of his music than I did after he died. The entire way was accompanied by some of the best songs from the King of Pop (and even some from the Jackson 5/The Jacksons).

We kept singing along to every song we could. There were some cases where I could finally connect a song with its title, having heard it before but not knowing what it was called. We had lost sight of the other car a while ago, and we stopped. I took advantage of that moment to roll down the window and capture the Caribbean Sea, which was to my right (those shots resulted in the panorama featured in this post).

After a while of not seeing the other car, we decided  to just keep going, in case the others were actually ahead of us, or in hopes that they would eventually catch up. We finally got there (and took me a while to get to this part of the post). We were the first to arrive. The others weren’t there yet, and so we waited inside the car.

When they finally got there, we all got out and made our way to the Arts building. The whole place is looks magnificent. Colorful buildings, scattered here and there, and its initials, written in big, blue letters, stood out under the cloudy sky. The Arts building, predominantly orange and yellow (on the outside), has quite a lot of glass in it. Many door-to-ceiling windows, glass panels, and a long skylight allowing for the sun to do its part for the lighting. Energy efficiency win.

The first thing I noticed when I was inside, was the abundance of laptops. No, really. There were a lot of artsy-looking kids (I say kids, because I’m clearly older at this point), each one sitting down on the floor, or in one of the few chairs, staring at a laptop. After this short first impression of the place, our tour guide led us to an auditorium, where she and this young fellow readied the standard presentation. The auditorium had many large screens in the front, but the presentation only used one. Through it, we were shown the history of the place, its purpose and its many departments.

During the show, I started to feel less than great (gah!), and I knew I had to make a quick trip to the restroom. After the presentation, we were led out to the hallway, so we could see some of the works made by students. Some are quite good, I have to admit. As we looked (and as I kept getting worse), an older man, older than our two guides, arrived. He was a teacher, and was going to talk about the art courses.

We were back in our seats in the auditorium, and our new host talked about the courses, the pricing, duration, requirements, and so on. It seems our teacher’s husband is also very interested in 3D animation, but kept mixing up CAD and standard 3D modeling (and kept getting corrected).

After we were done with that, our tour guide led us to the second floor so we could see some classrooms. I spotted a restroom close to the stairs, but I didn’t want to miss the tour, so I kept going. We saw a few classrooms (I spotted a girl working on a 3D model of a car), and more student work displayed on the walls. I couldn’t stand it for longer, so I asked the tour guide where the restroom was. I knew where it was, but I didn’t want to give her the impression that I was straying from the tour. I went and … well, that ended quickly. My plan to eat earlier was an effective one. Still, it sucks that I had to feel that way during an interesting visit.

When I went back to where the classrooms were, I saw no sign of the tour guide … or the rest of my group. I asked a student who was sitting on the floor if she had seen them, but she missed them, as she had been working on her laptop. I walked around the place and went upstairs to the third floor. Turns out that there is no third floor. The staircase led up to the roof. I went downstairs the ground level and found them there. The tour guide was gone, and the tour was over. That’s it?!, I thought.

That was it. Of all the buildings and facilities that ITLA had to offer, we had only seen one, and the whole tour lasted less than the way there. Good thing it was free!

We went outside, and the sky had cleared up a bit. I quickly made several photos to create a panoramic view of ITLA. I’m surprised it turned out decent.

One of the others saw me with the camera and called to the rest of the group. We needed a group shot. Many group shots were made, including some in front of the big, blue letters. The camera didn’t expose correctly at first (resulting in some very dark, but fixable images), but it eventually gave in to the temptation of actually capturing what was in front of it, just as it looked.

After that, we were back on the road, and I was back to singing along to Michael Jackson. When I didn’t sing along, I took my time to make more window shots of the sky and the road. Good times.

Before we knew it, we were back in the city. I guess I expected too much of the visit, seeing that it was too short and not overly impressive. The time on the road was great, though.

In the end, I made to the classroom some fifteen or twenty minutes before my 5:00 class began. Whew!

Okay, that’s plenty of words and pictures for today. I think I’ve made my point here, but I’ll make it again: I’m not dead, and neither is the blog. I’ve just had little reason/motivation for posting, as of late.

Expect more frequent posts from now on, reader(s). If I’ve got so much free time, it’s the least I can do.

The media loves Kanye’s big mouth

Hardly a single newspaper missed the attention-grabbing stunt by Kanye West at last weekend’s MTV Video Music Awards. When Taylor Swift went on stage to accept her award for Best Music Video, West snatched the microphone from her and stated ‘We all know Beyonce really had the Best Video!’. This ruined Swift’s acceptance speech, as one would expect.

However, the media buck never stops at fact. A spoof viral storyis now doing the rounds, West was likely to show up at Patrick Swayze’s funeral and leap up to the podium, stating that during a service held to remember the life and career Patrick Swayze, West barged his way into the pastor’s pulpit, comandeered the mic, and in the words that he spoke to Taylor Swift, Kanye said ‘I am happy for you Patrick and I’ll let them finish your service in a minute, but I just wanted to say that Michael Jackson had one of the best funerals ever!’

Not at all in good taste, but it shows you how quickly news goes viral online.

Some say the West-Swift gag was planned, but judging from Swift’s reaction, I think not. US President Obama has been quoted on the matter too, stating that West is a ‘jack ass’ for stealing Swift’s glory. Wonder what Beyonce thinks of all this?

High Circulation

Folio Magazine reports today that magazine circulation isn’t as bad as we had thought:

“Overall consumer magazine circulation through the first half was stable, with subscription gains offsetting newsstand declines. That’s the overarching point of “The Full Story on Magazine Circulation Vitality,” a new white paper released by the Magazine Publishers of America. The report, according to the MPA, aims to set the record straight about the recent Audit Bureau of Circulations’ FAS-FAX report.

“We created the Magazine Circulation Vitality White Paper because there is a positive circulation story about the magazine industry that is being ignored,” Ellen Oppenheim, MPA’s executive vice president and CMO, told FOLIO:. “There’s obviously confusion between the impact of the recession on ad pages and the consumer’s relationship with magazines. And those assumptions are often wrong. Subscriptions are up. Magazine readership remains steady. Consumers flock to newsstands when big news breaks like the death of Michael Jackson. When you look at the big picture, the facts tell a strong story.””

Hate it hate it hate it!

What’s the worst thing about this video? An aged Salman Khan crooning Love me love me love me, or a fat Ayesha Takia dancing in dreadful clothes or the boring set? Or perhaps the choreography?

This song has been choreographed by Prabhu Deva, who was once called “India’s Michael Jackson”. If Michael were alive today and had seen this song, he would definitely have killed himself!

He has not just choreographed the song, but is also the Director of the film the song is from: Wanted.

I for one don’t mind the song. It has decent beats, and the tune isn’t too bad. There is so much that could have been done with the video. But instead it looks jaded; it would have been a big hit in the year 2000, but not in this age for sure.

GONE TO SOON...

First off, I apologize I haven’t been blogging recently. In my absence of blogging there has been a lot of things going on in the Media. From the problems of our Economy to who’s twittering about who. The biggest news that I have been very saddened by lately is how many celebrities have been passing away. The generation that I grew up in is soon realizing that life is too short. Many of our childhood Icons have been stripped away from us at such young ages. From Cancer to substance abuse, all of the recently deceased have shown us how precious our lives are. We have all been impacted greatly by these deaths. I myself had watched these stars on television or listened to them through the power of music.

R.I.P Farrah Fawcett

(February 2, 1947 – June 25, 2009)

I had great memories of watching her in the Original “Charlie’s Angel’s”, watching her play one of the best single Mother in “Man of the House”, and of course every boy checked out her cough*modeling* cough pictures. You will be missed.

DJ AM aka Adam Goldstein

(March 30, 1973 – August 28, 2009)

One of the greatest DJ’s of our time. He has J’d at some of the most famous places for the biggest events. He was also a huge contributor to the sneaker game. I remember when he was an avid poster on Niketalk. I would see his collections and just  for days onto my keyboard. I always had wanted to hear him spin live and had gotten the chance to in front of UDFTD in LA for their block party sale. It was really cool to meet such a down to earth guy who had a passion for kicks like the rest of us “sneakerheads”. It was very sad to see such a young and talented person to become consumed by drugs after he was sober for 11 years and had survived a plane crash. You will be missed.

R.I.P Patrick Swayze “Ghost”

(August 18, 1952 – September 14, 2009)

Probably my fondest memories of Mr. Swayze had to have been in one of the most romantic movies I have ever seen, “Ghost”. The man was brilliant, the pottery scene to “Ditto”. I also remember him in Disney’s Tall Tale, I wonderful film about all the legendary Folk Tales. He was Pecos Bill in the film and runs into great adventures. I had watched it first in a class in school then it became one of my favorite childhood movies. “The love inside, you take it with you. See ya”. You will be missed.

and the greatest ever…

R.I.P Michael Joseph Jackson “The King of Pop”

(August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009)

Michael’s death had impacted me the most. I had just arrived in Las Vegas and my girlfriend woke me up from my sleep. I was in shock, I didn’t believe it at first and thought she was kidding. I didn’t want to believe it…

As a kid, I grew up listening to his music. My mother was one of his “Biggest Fans”, so I was born into listening to Michael. Michael’s death had brought so many fond memories of my childhood, from going to Disneyland to watch “Captain EO” in 3D, to learning all his dance moves from watching “Moonwalker” over and over again (Bunny Dance off Scene was one of my favorites). His career was an amazing feat, he has been a superstar since he was a boy. I never left the spotlight. His Music had affected people from all around the world, singing about people’s daily struggles and positive energy had given him the name as the “King of Pop”. His unmistakable kindness and care for every human being and creature to walk this earth made him God-like. He will be missed by many in this world, and his messages through his music will live on in the power of his albums. Rest In Peace Michael. You will be missed greatly…

VMAs Wrap Up

by ssjrem

I don’t have a huge paper due tomorrow or class in less than half an hour or anything like that. I definitely have time to waste writing a blog about something stupid. Yeah, definitely. I figured I may as well get to this while it’s still news and people still care. Or have they already moved on? Anyway, I didn’t even watch the whole thing, but here are my thoughts on how it went.

The show opened with a huge, overly extravagant, too-long-for-its-good tribute to Michael Jackson. Yes, I realize all the contributions he made to music and the ridiculous amount of records he sold, but I thought it was a little much to be honest. I don’t understand how just because he’s died, everyone has swept everything bad he was ever accused of under the rug. Not that I’m saying he did or didn’t do anything; I’m just saying that people, especially Madonna in her speech to open the show, are treating him like some sort of god or king. I can’t agree. Just my two cents.

Anyway, the night did get off to a pretty good start and all. One of the first awards presented was the one for best female video. Taylor Swift won for “You Belong With Me.” I don’t think it was a particularly great video, but it was probably the best among the nominees. Personally, I would have given the award to “Poker Face” by Lady Gaga. Anyway, though, Taylor’s being all shy and shit accepting her award and starting her speech. Out of nowhere, Kanye West, the gay fish that he is, barges onto the stage and interrupts Taylor’s speech. He takes the microphone and says that Beyonce had “one of the best videos of all time.” He then leaves, having completely disrespected Taylor. Now, honestly, I do think that Kanye West makes some good music, but the man is just an asshole. He is so damn cocky. Maybe he thought he was paying Beyonce some sort of compliment, but instead, he completely ruined Taylor’s moment. He is a gay fish. If you don’t get what I just said, you should start watching South Park. I’d be a clip up, but Viacom are being assholes and I can’t find one that’s still up. So, happy hunting.

The show had a number of performances, but if there was an award for the best one, then I have to give it to Lady Gaga. Say what you will, Gaga knows what she is doing and is probably the most successful attention whore of all time. Her performance of her song “Paparazzi” was so ridiculously over the top…. I don’t really know what to say. It actually got a little disturbing. Gaga really is an extremely strange person and her fashion and choices of outfits are so far out there that I’m surprised she’s as popular as she is. She also won the award for best new artist, which she easily deserved over the other garbage nominated for that award. If 3OH!3 won that, I would’ve hurled my TV in a fucking wall. That “band” is such complete shit I don’t even words for it.

Later, when Beyonce won for video of the year, which is a complete joke because there is not a damn special thing about her video, she took the award, said a few awards, and then invited Taylor Swift to come back on stage and have her moment. I don’t like Beyonce’s music at all and I don’t think she deserved the award, but I have to give it up to her for doing that. It was very classy. And when Taylor finished her speech, Kanye was nowhere to be seen. It was hilarious watching the show and everytime Kanye was nominated for an award, the crowd booed him. Like I said, Kanye West is a gay fish.

The VMAs are completely ridiculous. I’m somewhat ashamed that I even watched them at all. But I cannot help myself sometimes when it comes to things like this. The show certainly didn’t disappoint. I would’ve loved to put up some clips from the show, but as I said, Viacom are being little bitches and taking down everything that was uploaded to Youtube. Oh well. So, yeah, those are basically my thoughts on the whole thing. Oh yeah, for all the Twilight fans out there, they debuted a new trailer for New Moon. The frenzy is growing even more and I really think this movie will do some crazy shit at the box office. I’m going to upload the trailer now, but if it’s taken down by the time you read this, blame Summit or Viacom, not me. I’m sure you could find it easily enough anyway.

Until we meet again.

MTV awards: A tribute to Jackson; West disrupts Swift's speech

NEW YORK (CNN) — Michael Jackson, whose music dominated MTV at the height of his career, was the star of the 2009 MTV Music Video Awards — months after his death.

Michael Jackson receives the Legend Award during the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards.

However, the show featured more than accolades for Jackson. Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video, stunning the usually unflappable MTV awards show crowd. Madonna opened the MTV show in New York by hailing Jackson as a musical hero who suffered from a childhood lost to fame and who was abandoned by his friends. Janet Jackson danced in a high-energy musical tribute to her brother onstage at Radio Music Hall. Viewers who stayed tuned to the end of the awards show got the first peek at a behind-the-scenes documentary of the pop star’s final three months, a film that uses video of his rehearsals for what were to be his comeback concerts.  “It’s a great adventure,” Michael Jackson said. “We want to take them places that they’ve never been before.” The two-and-a-half minute preview gave quick glimpses of Jackson and what producer Kenny Ortega said “may go down as the greatest concert that no one got a chance to see.” The movie trailer can be seen at www.thisisit-movie.com.

Jackson died in at his home in Holmby Hills, California, on June 25 — two weeks before he was to kick off 50 shows at London’s O2 Area. The Los Angeles County coroner concluded that his death was a homicide, caused by drug injections. The criminal investigation has targeted Dr. Conrad Murray, who was paid by concert promoter AEG Live to serve as Jackson’s personal physician. No charges have been filed in the case. Jackson’s estate contracted with Sony Pictures to make the film — “Michael Jackson; This Is It” — from about 100 hours of video captured from April to June by AEG Live as Jackson prepared for the shows. The Jackson documentary will run in theaters worldwide for two weeks starting October 28, Sony Pictures said. Tickets will go on sale September 27. Madonna was the only person to speak during the award show’s opening tribute to Jackson. The singer noted that she and Jackson were born the same month and in the same part of the United States, in the Midwest. “When Michael Jackson was 6, he became a superstar and was perhaps the world’s beloved child,” she said. “When I was 6, my mother died. I think he got the shorter end of the stick. I never had a mother, but he never had a childhood.” Madonna said while she searched for years for a mother figure, Jackson tried to recapture his childhood. “But how do you re-create a childhood when you are under the magnifying glass of the world for your entire life?” she said. She said she saw Jackson’s “vulnerability and charm” during a dinner date in 1991, but they later fell out of touch.

“Then the witch hunt began, and it seemed like one negative story after the other was coming out about Michael,” she said. “I felt his pain. I know what it’s like to walk down the street and feel like the whole world has turned against you. I know what it’s like to feel helpless and unable to defend yourself because the roar of the lynch mob is so loud that you are convinced your voice can never be heard. “But I had a childhood and I was allowed to make mistakes and find my own way in the world without the glare of the spotlight.” Madonna said she was in London when she learned that Jackson had died.

“All I could think about at the moment was I had abandoned him, that we had abandoned him, that we had allowed this magnificent creature that once set the world on fire to somehow slip through the cracks,” she said. “While he was trying to build a family and rebuild a career, we were all busy passing judgment. Most of us had turned our backs on him.” The tribute then turned musical, with dancers re-creating the choreography of several of Jackson’s biggest videos, starting with “Thriller.” With father, Joe Jackson, and brother Jermaine Jackson watching from the front row, Janet Jackson appeared onstage for the last song. While Jackson’s “Gravity” video played on a huge screen behind her, she danced and lip-synced the words “Just stop pressuring me.” The other highlight of the show was quite opposite in tone. Even by the standards of the anything-goes MTV awards, Kanye West’s hijacking of pop sweetheart Taylor Swift’s speech at the was particularly brutal.

A giddy Swift was in the midst of her acceptance speech for Best Female Video when the often-mercurial West rushed onstage, grabbed her microphone and let loose an outburst on behalf of singer Beyonce Knowles, who had lost out in that category. But audiences who stayed tuned until the end of the broadcast were treated to a touching bookend: Knowles, the night’s top winner, invited Swift onstage and gave the teen country singer her moment in the spotlight. “I remember being 17 years old, up for my first MTV award with Destiny’s Child, and it was one of the most exciting moments of my life,” Knowles said, referring to the girl group with which she had her start. “So I would like for Taylor to come out and have her moment.” Speaking to reporters later, Swift was understated about her take on the disruption. “I was excited to be onstage because I just won the award. And then I was excited that Kanye West was onstage. Then, I wasn’t excited anymore,” she said.

MTV told journalists the West-Swift incident was not planned — a point it had to stress after a walkout by singer Eminem at last year’s event turned out to be staged. Hip-hop superstar West, who was pictured before the ceremony swigging a bottle of Cognac, was escorted from the building after the rant, the network said. Soon after, an apology to Swift appeared on his blog: “I’m sooooo sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom,” the message said in all caps. “I spoke to her mother right after and she said the same thing my mother would’ve said. She is very talented! … I’m in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment!”

Email response to Diane Dimond.

Diane,

Thank you for your email. It is with utter shock that I read that you still believe that Michael was a child molester.  I was led to believe that you had changed your mind about this.

Anyone who actually knew Michael would know that he was innocent of all charges and did not have the capabililty of molesting children. The fact that he has been acquitted in the US Law Courts shows that there is no legal case against Michael Jackson. He is an innocent man.

Speaking to you has made me the victim of vicious, lies, rumours and speculation. As upsetting as it is, it is nothing compared to what Michael suffered. I really do believe that there are people that are spiteful and wicked out their willing to cry, shout, scream and make false testimonies in order to destroy someone else’s character. Yes, you may have seen many male children crying and jurors regretting their decision, but it does not mean that Michael Jackson molested anyone.

In my case, someone went to the extent of trying and succeeded to register me on USA White Pages in order to prove/show that I live in USA. I don’t live in the USA and never have. Rumours are now being spread around that I lied about being from the UK. You see how that could look to the innocent bystander??

I would never put my head on the line and make an assertion unless I was 100% sure. I am a scientist after all!! I knew Michael and I know that he was no child molester and I would even go as far as saying that he wouldn’t even understand what child molesters do because he was so innocent to such wicked things.

You are entitled to your opinion, as we all are, but in the wake of his death and to show sensitivity to his family and friends, is it necessary to make these old allegations resurface?

Diane, I cannot change your mind, but what I would ask is for you to please be sensitive to us who are living day to day trying to cope with our loss. No matter what you thought of him, he had those that loved and cared about him.

Cricketer's Mannerism Blamed in Elevator Assault Case

Manoj Shivanand, 43, of Manchester was charged with public indecency and assault for yelling obscenities and shaking a woman by the shoulders in an elevator. He was later released after the plaintiff dropped all charges. Manoj, a die hard cricket fan who idolizes Sachin Tendulkar, believed Ms Sarah Voegler was mocking his idol’s trademark mannerism during the 15 minute ride in an elevator.

“It is his one weakness and people can only pick on him for that. Just this morning one of my friends was making fun of him for that only. I was sure she heard it and wanted to tease me because of it” he said in anguish. “There were four of us in the elevator, but only after the other two left did she start, so naturally I assumed she was making fun of him. Yes she did not look me in the face, but that is a different way, acting nonchalantly while doing something quite ridiculous, I have seen Borat and Bruno so I am very well familiar with it.”

Does he think there is a race angle? “Yes, of course, would she have done that if I was not an Indian? Do you think she would have started shouting at the wall to mock John McEnroe if a white American man had entered the elevator?” he charged furiously. “The fact that she herself specifically dropped the charges proves this.”

Ms Voegler, 37, an exotic dancer who suffers from chronic vaginal flatulence, had a different version of events. “I was trying so hard to control myself while there were many people in the elevator, but I had to adjust my undergarments – I was wearing latex, you know, for the party – at that exact moment because the pressure was incredible. I understand that this might have affected Manoj, because men are very sensitive about this particular condition. That was why I dropped the charges, I didn’t want this to get out of hand” said a visibly embarrassed Ms Voegler.

Does she believe Manoj invented the story about his cricketing hero? “Well he certainly seems very passionate about that man, so I honestly can’t tell. Personally I do think its strange that a man should have to, you know,  keep doing that during a game, I mean bikers seem to be able to ride hundreds of miles just fine without having to adjust their, you know, cup. I think it must have been a cultural misunderstanding, maybe where Manoj comes from it is highly disrespectful or inappropriate for a woman to act this way. While he has to understand that outside his country he cannot treat people this way, I wanted to show him some of our country’s hospitality and tolerance by dropping the charges, since this is a slightly unusual case.”

But not everyone believes this is a case of cultural misunderstanding. Paul Thornton, one of Manoj’s a long time associates thinks the cricket fan is too sensitive. “He is a bit of a loony, a nutjob as they would say, when it comes to Sachin. He was convinced that there was a conspiracy that involved Pakistan, Arab sheiks and record companies to defame the great man. He often spoke about wanting to fly down to Los Angeles to file a suit against Michael Jackson, whom he claimed suspiciously came up with the crotch grabs after Sachin’s debut. He’s a swell guy apart from that and even arranges for tickets to games for everyone in our department.” Short of a Length was unable to reach Sachin Tendulkar to get his views on the matter.

Mr Shivanand believes Michael Jackson was part of a Middle East conspiracy to defame Sachin Tendulkar

Ugh. Make it stop.

Okay, honestly, I’m tired of the Health Care Reform debate. The current plan they’re trying to push right now is total crap, but I’m at the point where I’m just like, “Hey, you know what? Pass it. Go ahead, see what happens. You thought it was bad now? Go ahead. I’ll just sit here and watch.”

Long story short, I don’t care anymore.

Truth of the matter is, there’s a lot out there that I don’t care about anymore. My current Twitter status sums it up pretty well:

Is it just me, or is America getting more and more wrapped up in the wrong things? I’m not really sure. I mean, I’m sure there have been other times in the past where people have thought that. But the argument could be made that it really is worse this time, simply because of the age we live in. I use the term “YouTube Generation” a lot. Don’t remember where I heard that initially, but basically it means that we truly live in an age of instant gratification. We are so desperate to get the latest info (and ALL OF IT, at that), that we resort to reading news that isn’t really worth reading. It’s just crap. But we don’t care, because it’s being broadcast as “breaking news,” and OMG WE HAVE TO KNOW. We get so absorbed in all this nonsense, it affects our daily lives. We can’t go 30 minutes without thinking about Jon & Kate, Michael Jackson, Obamacare, Sarah Palin, Iraq, the energy crisis, global warming, and who knows what else. We obsess, we judge, we move ourselves up higher and higher on the proverbial ladder, and our holier-than-thou complexes just eat it up like Thanksgiving dinner, because oh, we know better than those fools on TV.

Meanwhile, we lie, we cheat, we steal, we hate, we fight, we hurt, all the while passing judgment on those whom society dictates is our betters, ie. celebrities, politicians, as if the crap we pull in our own lives doesn’t mean a damn thing.

Honestly, people, enough is enough. It makes me tired, and it needs to stop.

But here’s another thought… And I’m going to get a little wacky here, so my apologies in advance. Does it need to stop? Do we really need to put an end to this obsession? Or should we just let it go, because it’s part of the whole package when it comes to the events leading up to the Rapture? Are we on the precipice here? It’s certainly something I’ve mulled over for the past couple of years, and I know a lot of you have, too.

Chew on that one for a while, friend. But don’t chew too hard. I mean, if you’re like me, you know there’s not really anything to worry about.

“He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth; He breaks the bow and shatters the spear, He burns the shields with fire. ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’ The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah.” — Psalm 46: 9-11 (NIV)

Even in the midst of all the noise, there are still moments of relief. Sometimes it’s as simple as glancing in your rear-view mirror while sitting at a stoplight.

Janet speaks out: About her last day with Michael, his eccentric style, and how she hopes he's remembered

Janet Jackson’s interview in the October issue of Harper’s Bazaar is almost entirely devoted to her brother Michael and, while you won’t find answers to the more mysterious questions surrounding the King of Pop’s life and death, the resulting article is still a sweet, and at times, fascinating read.

Speaking out for the time since her brother’s passing, the 43-year-old singer says the last time she saw Michael was May 14, just a few days before her birthday: “We had so much fun that day. We kept calling each other after and saying how great it was.” Janet also reveals some intimate details about the days following his death, including the decision to allow (Michael’s daughter) Paris to speak at the memorial service.”I was really proud,” she says. “People said to me that Michael’s daughter speaking really gave them a sense of how he was as a father, in her words. Paris is incredibly smart; they are all so smart. She’s a sweet girl. The kids are doing well. They’re with all their cousins; that family love will keep them going.”

For the entire story, head to newsstands this week, we’ve got some of the more interesting excerpts below:

What she’d like the world to know about Michael:

“He loved to laugh. The last time we were together, he’d laugh so hard, he would just start crying. Sometimes his humor would be corny, sometimes dry. He loved the Three Stooges, he loved slapstick, he loved Eddie Murphy in his silly comedies. He loved to have fun. He loved to play….People have told me, ‘I am an American citizen because of your brother.’ He wrote them a letter or something. He was just that giving, loving person. And the greatest entertainer there ever was. And is. I hope people get a glimpse of him now, some sort of picture.”

Pouco importava a letra! – Assim eu acreditava.

Tatal sta cu privirea pierduta in ecranul iphone-ului. Trimite mailuri.

Ea e motorul care pune in miscare familia. Asa a invatat si in cartile ei favorite, cele de self-help. “In 10 pasi simpli poti fi fericit“. Mananca, roaga-te, iubeste, consuma, cumpara, munceste, mori. E important sa ii puna pe toti in miscare.

Pentru ca…

Baiatul sta in camera lui, adus de spate in fata computerului.

Fata sta tolanita in pat. Tasteaza la laptop. Are blog. Are cont de tweeter. Are messenger. Are iluzia perfecta a unei apropieri de ceilalti. Fara sa fie nevoita sa intre propriu-zis in contact cu ei. N-ai cum sa fii ranit cu adevarat atata timp cat esti intr-un spatiu virtual, nu-i asa? Ea… comunica. Ea afla mereu informatii noi. Cum a murit Michael Jackson.

Mortgage Loan Compliance | FHA Bends The Rules To Lend A Hand

The Census Bureau recently reported that multifamily starts fell to an all-time low of 80,000 units in July, 2009 down 72% from same time last year.  Now the Federal Housing Administration is providing a helping hand to some multifamily developers that started construction but had their financing pulled after completing the foundation.

The FHA mortgagee letter indicates that the agency is not going to insure multifamily loans for condominium projects that are 90% complete and are trying to convert to rental units.

FHA generally does not insure multifamily projects where construction has already started. But for the next six months, the federal mortgage insurer is willing to consider applications in cases where construction was halted early and only site preparation and foundation work was completed.

To qualify, developers have to prove that their financing was cancelled and they have been unable to find alternative financing.

The mortgagee letter points out some lenders are backing out of commitments and refusing to fund construction draws.  The Department of Housing and Urban Development said it is taking this step “due to the illiquidity in the financial markets.”
