R.I.P. Michael Jackson !

The King's Treasure

Crowned the King of Pop by his best friend Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Jackson has achieved and surpassed the accomplishments of those who inspired him, those who came before him. Inspired by  James Brown, Bill Bailey, Fred Astaire, and the Nicholas Brothers, Michael moulded their dance moves and made them his own. He combined his natural elements of song and dance to propel himself into superstardom. Along his way to the top he collected many awards documenting his prowess in entertainment, some of which can be found at the Michael Jackson Exhibition at the O2 Arena. Among the awards, include gold and platinum albums, the first platinum album awarded in 1969 when he was eleven.

The Exhibition chronicles the short life of the star. After experiencing a taste of Michael Jackson in concert on a large video screen,  the exhibition starts with the contract his father signed with the William Morris  Agency establishing his sons as a pop group. It continues with personal items from Michael’s life, including the Neverland Arch that led to the entrance of this former home in California. You can see cracked and chipped paint in his blue 1967 Rolls Royce Phantom that he took Elizabeth for rides in.

Props from his many cinematic music videos included the green rocket ship from “Leave me Alone,” the sleek black Gibson guitar used in the video “Scream” where he sang and danced along side his sister Janet, his Egyptian costume from his 1993 hit “Remember the Time” and the robot mask with protruding pieces from his film “Moonwalker.”

It’s widely known that Michael lived a life of extravagance. He lived like a king. His wardrobe, also featured at the exhibition, was often composed of  elaborate ensembles with arm bands in the colours of royalty,  accented with metals or insignias that hung from his chest like a decorated soldier. They were designed with the purpose of presenting Michael as a king. His collection often mimicked the uniforms of the royal guards of Her Majesty the Queen of England as well as the military uniforms of other countries. There are other times where his style was more futuristic, and can be described as experimental. Those were usually seen in costume at his many elaborate concerts.

Towards the end of the exhibition, props and clothing that were to be used at his final series of performances, This is It, were creatively placed in two sizeable rooms. In one room, the view of Michael’s massive and elaborate revision of the Thriller dance sequence brings back memories of his original music video. In the next area, a more modest room featured the costumes he would have changed into during his last performances, which included various versions of his trademark penny-loafers. Across from the costumes in a corner was a small thermos rotating inside of a glass case. The sign underneath stated that Michael’s children would pack his lunch inside of the thermos every day for him to take with him to rehearsals.

In the final room, a set of books with white pages were left for fans to leave their message for his family. Further along around a corner, a light shined on a solid square black pillar with a glass case on top. Inside the glass case was “the glove.” There were other versions of it that Michael wore, even in different colours to match his outfit, but this was the trademark white glove that he wore when he first danced across the stage giving us the first glimpse of the moonwalk, a move we would see many times over and never get tired of seeing.

Adjacent to the black pillar was a quote in white printed against a black wall. The quote from Michael reflects his view on life which can be interpreted as an optimistic commentary on his own.

“If you enter this world knowing you are loved and you leave this world knowing the same, then everything that happens in between can be dealt with.” – Michael Jackson (1958 -2009)

Martin Bashir feeling guilty for what he did in "Living With Michael Jackson"?

http://bit.ly/5fhBOz PLEASE WATCH THIS…SO SHOCKING!

After watching this video…I just can’t believe this guy. By the time he found out Michael was dead he just couldn’t stay in his home. That is because something was wrong inside him, inside his mind and heart. He felt GUILTY! That’s why he had to go in front of a camera and say these words to the public. In this video you can see his face, he’s so shocked and confused by the news and the memory of the most inappropriate documentary he has ever done! His job in this documentary is the stupidest job I’ve ever seen. But the worst part came after. The real damage came after the documentary and Bashir didn’t care about the harm he did to Michael. I can’t believe that he got the chance to have a heart to heart conversation with Michael and he took all that and used it against the man who opened his soul, life and heart to him and even let him coexist with his children, Michael’s most valued treasures. Respectable people JUST DON’T DO THAT! Maybe for him it was just a game, but what Michael had to live and confront after…well, that was too hard for a game. It was  NOT a game and I knew that from the first time I saw the documentary, I noticed immediately how uncomfortable Michael was almost all the time during the interviews. And Bashir was such a coward that he acted one way when Michael was present and other way when he was alone, and used those moments to say things with double meanings about Michael. That was really frustrating and a massive attack to him. At the end, it is what it is right now and this confession he made after Michael passed away it’s just TOO LATE. Why didn’t he say this when Michael really needed it and when he was ALIVE????? Why he never said this right after the documentary if he thought somehow it was misunderstood? Hearing him saying these words now makes me want to scream and I don’t feel even a little respect for this person. He is just another person who took advantage of Michael for money and fame, but guess what Bashir? You’re not even half the man Michael is and you deserve no respect as a person or journalist, because good people don’t do this to another person, it’s just not human. I’d rather not see Bashir saying this, but he did maybe because guilt was and still is eating his brain and heart, but sorry feelings are not admissible right now, not right now. Michael Jackson is the biggest, best and greatest entertainer the world has ever seen and would ever see, but he was also the most stalked and harassed celebrity ever with people like this guy trying to obtain something from him no matter what. It’s amazing to see now people are trying to clear their minds by saying the truth, but how good and brave would that be… some years ago? Pretty brave actually, but no one did it. I’m sure guys like Bashir didn’t have a clue about how much that hurt Michael and the suffering he experienced. It’s so coward to say the truth now when Michael is no longer with us. The good thing is that we already know what kind of person this Bashir is and now his malicious is well documented while making “Living With Michael Jackson”. I’ll finish this posting what Michael said to him during the documentary: “…people don’t stop to think what they’re saying sometimes, and the effect it can have on a person…” Think about that!

Michael I love you and I believe in your innocence. You proved you lived a terrific life, despite those painful moments we all now, loving and caring about all the people around you and on top of that, you loved the entire world even when you knew there were some people full of bad intentions. That’s why I respect you and admire you.

His music, and above all his pure message of love, will be always printed in my heart and mind and I will assure his legacy will endure forever while I contribute in making the world a better place and healing it as well.

LONG LIVE THE KING.

►►Wheesung to collab with Ne-Yo on a song originally for Michael Jackson!

What a huge honor! I did not know Wheesung would get into the U.S. music industry this quick lol. but he’s really talented so I believe in him :-)

On Sunday’s airing of Pops in Seoul’s “In the Booth With” segment, the loveable VJ Isak asked Wheesung about his upcoming US Debut. Check out what he had to say about recording his English debut album, Ne-Yo, and Michael Jackson.

On “In the Booth With,” VJ Isak interviewed Wheesung and asked him about his upcoming debut in the US. This is what he had to say…
Isak: I heard that you are bringing your music to the US, next year!”
Wheesung: “Yes! It’s an opportunity that just fell from the sky. The opportunity really came down from the heavens. I was very lucky. They called me first! A team that was planning a project wanted to invite an Asian singer to the US. They wanted me to be their first singer. So I told them that I couldn’t speak English, and that I was old…”

Isak: What does age have to do with it?!“…So I told them to think it over again and call me. They called me and said they thought it was fine and I said I would do it and thanked them. That’s what happened. I think I was very lucky. I’m very happy that I was so lucky”

Isak: Tell us about the story about you and Michael Jackson.

“I’m working with Ne-Yo and another producer on a song that was originally written for Michael Jackson.”

Isak: Wow, the song you will be recording? You’ll be in the US and singing in front of recognized R&B stars and will be recording music with them. Do you feel the weight on your shoulders?

“At first I thought it would be stressful but actually it wasn’t that hard, it’s strange. It’s more challenging for me to sing in Korea! But I’m starting something totally different so I think of it as a new chapter in my life.”

When OMGKPOP interviewed Wheesung earlier this year he said he had no plans to enter the US market, but with these preparations and such, it shows how quickly ones plans can change. Definitely wishing the best of luck to Wheesung on his upcoming US debut! Please continue to visit OMGKPOP for more news regarding Wheesung’s crossover.

What we should remember about Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson Memorial

Author: Christina Pomoni
Source: articlesbase.com

He was equally adored and ridiculed like no one else. He made society respectful to the African-American people, but he passed away as a white guy. Controversy and unconventional lifestyle characterized more than half of his lifetime, but his extraordinary dance skills and singing talent elevated him to heights undreamt of. He was humiliated and shattered by the tabloids because of his alleged relationships with children, but he sold over 750 millions copies worldwide. Michael Jackson passed away shockingly at the age of 50, on June 25, 2009, but his legacy goes beyond ordinary obituaries, exceeding the limits of human perception.Jacko, as his fans loved to call him, started his fascinating career in 1969, at the age of 11 with The Jackson Five. Although he was the youngest of the five Jackson brothers, he stood out for his incredible dance moves and his high-pitched voice. In 1979, he released his first solo album, ‘Off The Wall’ that sold 20 million copies worldwide and went 7x Platinum in the U.S. However, Jacko’s career soared to the sky with ‘Thriller’, released in 1982, the album with the highest record sales in the history of music. ‘Thriller’, “Michael Jackson“, sold nearly 107 million copies worldwide, stayed #1 for 37 weeks and went 28x Platinum. Because of its enormous success, ‘Billie Jean’ and ‘Beat It’ were the first video clips ever aired on MTV by an African-American artist, which, in effect, opened the way for the Black community to gain mainstream acknowledgment. It also enabled the promotion and development of R&B, hip-hop and pop music. After ‘Thriller’, Jacko released another four albums, ‘Bad’ in 1987, ‘Dangerous’ in 1991, ‘History’ in 1995 and ‘Invincible’ in 2001. However, none had the huge success and insight of ‘Thriller’ although many singles hit #1 of the UK and U.S. Billboard 200 Charts as well as #1 of U.S. R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. But Michael Jackson was so much more than that. With his moves, his unparalleled choreography and his plastic body, Jacko captured the mood of pop culture. Moving like he had no bones as he was moonwalking under the white glare of the concert lights, adorned in his gold-plate military style jacket and his single sparkling glove, his white shirt or his gold uniform, looking invincible as the air was blowing on his curly hair and whitish face, while the special effects were playing games with the audience behind him, Jacko’s live performances were an unforgettable experience that was lighting up the stage.Apart from his revolutionary dancing style and stage presence, Jacko featured a completely innovative way the video clips would be used from his time onwards. Featuring complex dance routines, special effects and many super-competent dancers and always narrating the story of his song in image clips, Jackson transformed video clips into an art form that could promote his musical talent and his future influence on pop music. However, controversy came ahead of time in the glow of Michael Jackson. Since the times of The Jackson Five, his father and manager of the group would beat him with a belt to improve his dance routines. Later on, Jacko suffered numerous plastic surgeries that made his skin incredibly thinner causing him an overall bad health condition. On the top of everything, he was accused of molesting young boys and having an alleged encounter with actor, Macaulay Culkin. Jacko was found non-guilty as charged, but his assets declined severely, dividing public opinion.Having won 197 awards during his 40-year career, Michael Jackson was ready to return on stage. Unfortunately, he never made it to London. His sudden death was as shocking as his success. His American fans in Los Angeles gathered outside UCLA Medical Center to support him during his last moments. Many of them were doing his famous moonwalking and were singing his smash hits with tears in their eyes. Japanese fans were lighting candles to honor his memory, while all European channels had tributes to the phenomenon of Michael Jackson.Jacko will be soon forgotten for his legal woes and he will be remembered for his unprecedented contribution to global pop culture and his humanitarian work. It’s true that he has been mocked for his plastic surgeries, his skin color changing and his cheekbone and nose thinning. Many people were laughing at him saying he would break in pieces on stage in his forthcoming concerts in London, on February 2010. Media was harsh on him, maybe harsher than what they have been on really ‘bad’ guys, although Jacko had always been a sweet-talking person, genuinely wonderful and compassionate. Besides, having supported 39 charity organizations through sponsorships or donations, Jacko’s humanitarian work was great. His fans always stood next to him, supporting him, never believing a word, “Michael Jackson“, about him being a molester, swearing he suffered from vitiligo, lupus, anorexia nervosa, and body dysmorphic disorder (BDD).His enemies stood against him, attacking him, disregarding his talent and judging him only for his eccentric acts and alleged accusations.Only Michael Jackson knows the truth about him. All of us, whether we stand for or against him, we have a common truth: If it wasn’t for him, African-American artists would need another twenty years to see their video clips aired on MTV or their work promoted on radio and TV shows. If it wasn’t for him, money would never be raised for AIDS like it happened in 1986 with his ‘We Are the World’ campaign and Africa would have to wait way too long for money to be raised for starving children. If it wasn’t for him, for his explosive dance grooves, his unmatched voice, his unequalled passion on stage, his constant influence on music and fashion, his contribution to the social equality and demolition of racial barriers, pop culture would never be the same. It would perhaps have the philosophy to progress, but the skills were instilled by a boy born on Gary, Indiana, on August 29, 1958.The ‘King of Pop’ keeps on moonwalking; only we cannot see him anymore.Rest in peace, Michael Jackson. We are grateful for all you taught us.

I work as a financial and investment advisor but my passion is writing, music and photography. Writing mostly about finance, business and music, being an amateur photographer and a professional dj, I am inspired from life.

Being a strong advocate of simplicity in life, I love my family, my partner and all the people that have stood by me with or without knowing. And I hope that someday, human nature will cease to be greedy and demanding realizing that the more we have the more we want and the more we satisfy our needs the more needs we create. And this is so needless after all.

Just finished Mj’s concert like documentary… My take on the movie is its ok. I never really understood why so many people was crazy over MJ. I liked some of his music but I wasn’t like worshiping him or anything. MJ drove everybody crazy! I can’t say the same about this movie. The movie felt unfinished and leaving me with wanting to see more.

A perfect day

What a lazy day I’m having… I woke late morning, treated myself to coffee and toast in bed – and a long, fabulous catch up chat with my eldest daughter.  So good to reconnect after a busy week.  A chance to mull over the events and share funny stories.

This afternoon I’m meeting my youngest daughter at the local cinema to see Michael Jackson’s This Is It… we had tickets to for one of his shows in July – so finally having time together to see the film will be a special for us.  Have you noticed how we can bumble along in life, putting things off until tomorrow, things we’d really like to do or have… and then when someones life comes to an end suddenly,  it does come as a shock and put ones own life into perspective doesn’t it?  We realise just how precious our time here is… What have you been putting off that you’d really like to do?

After the film I’m meeting my eldest daughter – we’re off to Windsor to an art gallery where Fabian Perez, the Argentinian, now LA based artist,  is unveiling his stunning new collection of paintings.  As the proud owner of 2 pieces of his art work, I’m always excited to meet the artist – nothing to do with the fact he’s drop dead gorgeous ;)  My daughter who is an art/film student will love this experience, as well as sipping on champagne – and preventing me from making another purchase! :)   Going to these events always adds sparkle to my life… to see someone who from ’some where’ and ’some how’ has achieved outstanding success – from living in Buenos Aires – becoming a painter… and who is now internationally recognised and who has been chosen as one of the official artists of the London 2012 Olympics!  Fantastic… Mmm… his story focuses me on my goals and Henry Ford’s famous quote springs to mind ‘if you think you can do a thing, or think you can’t your right’ which is it to be?

After our champagne, we’re off for dinner and to admire Windsor Castle by night… it always looks spectacular at night – lit to perfection, it seems to tower (literally) over you as you walk along the winding road that stretches around its solid walls…

This is a perfect day – a day of fun with my girls, a day of treats and remembering live is meant to be FUN!  I’m so aware that they will be flying the nest over the next few years, it’s great to have days like this with them.  What fun things will you do today?  What could you do?  Who would you choose to share your time with?  Who could you call today for a catch up?

Happy Saturday everyone!  Ps… here’s a link to Fabian Perez’s web site www.fabianperez.com

//

L.A. Wants Its Jackson Memorial Money Back—All $3.2 Million

From Eonline.com:
EPA/ANDREW GOMBERT POOL,

The stakes have gone up along with the price tag.

The Los Angeles City Council is still gunning for Anschutz Entertainment Group to reimburse it for the star-studded memorial service for Michael Jackson that took place at AEG-owned Staples Center in July and the Public Safety Committee will review the issue at a meeting next week.

While AEG and the Jackson family hosted the actual service, some guys with calculators have determined that the city spent $3.2 million to help pull it off, mainly in the form of security and increased police presence around the venue and locations where the Jackson family congregated in the days following the King of Pop’s death on June 25.

The cost was originally estimated at $1.4 million.

“The bottom line is the city attorney’s very committed to recouping the taxpayer’s dollars,” spokesman John Franklin said. “During these tough economic times right now, that’s big money. We’re laying off, people are getting furloughed…It’s still money that we put out for a memorial service for Michael Jackson.”

No matter that auditors have also figured that the proceedings, a subject of international fascination at the time, brought in about $4 million in revenue to the city in the form of hotel stays, restaurant tabs, transportation and other business transactions.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa once called the idea of the city soliciting money from the Jacksons or private donors “nonsensical,” calling his a “world-class city” where fire and police protection come with the territory.

But he didn’t say anything about AEG helping to ease the financial strain on the city’s cavernous coffers, which would be required under an ordinance the City Council passed in October about organizers reimbursing the city for such an event.

Of course, the memorial took place in July, before said ordinance was in place. Hence the review meeting that will take place sometime next week.

At least the Jacksons don’t have to take part in this conversation. They already racked up a $1 million bill for Michael’s funeral and interment services at Forest Lawn.

THE ESSENCE OF MICHAEL JACKSON

Reminiscing of his final soon to be concert, “This Is It” was made as a film by Michael Bearden. The film is beautifully captured the essence of Michael Jackson in this world, positivity, dedication, generosity, perfectionist, and love, love, love.

By Maya A. Siregar

When i finally saw the film, i thought that the testimonials from the dancers were too much like it was pushed to be dramatic. But when i saw the legendary King of Pop himself, my eyes seemed to pop and i just sit still and awe in amazement and excitement to see him in action.

As a 50 year old man, he was seen as energetic as he could, and really put his mind and hands on to the concert.

King of Pop Michael Jackson Legacies

He is a true genius and humbly remarkable. He is a perfectionist and always gives the best thing to his audience, even though it’s still just a rehearsal.

Although i cried like crazy in that black June – when he passed away¬ – i just felt excitement and danced my feet and shoulders away, couldn’t stand not to dance, but of course, i did just a little of that while i remained sit down.

My most favourite songs were also played in that film, Billie Jean, Man in the Mirror, Beat It, Who Is It, Human Nature, Earth Song, and Thriller

His appearances, notes, and messages to his surroundings were very inspiring. He endlessly showed and told to all of them the essence of his works.

Dedication, utmost brilliance, generosity, supportive, and love from his presence were radiating the whole place, and to all the people in the world trough his music.

Michael has translated all of his world concerns in his lyrics impeccably with amazing tunes. The peak of that quality is very rare, especially in present time.

He incorporates songs with lyrics that provoke all of the people to spread the love for mankind, nature and other living things in this world. Yet it still made you dance too.

Not just the King, the rest of the band and dancers were also amazing. He also encouraging his guitarist Orianthi Panagiri in one of his song rehearsals to step up her game with her guitar made it as a “solo moment” in part of his song.

“…this is your time to shine, we’re here for you…” said the legend.

Nevertheless, the most outrageous thing that made us all bow and applause to him was his resistance to the entire exigent condition trough his childhood to adult life.

In the end of his concert he was planned to say, “…and to Joseph and Katherine, god bless you and I love you…”

Featured Projects

In the film, he also expressed his works through 3D film for making thousands of troops for They Don’t Really Care About Us, Earth Song, and green screens for shooting the Smooth Criminal reinvented featured clips, put Michael into black and white movie clips from the 1940’s.

There are also called “flashes and glimpses” that featured pictures of great events and notable figures like Princess Diana and Martin Luther King.

Like in his lyrics, when he commented his songs relentlessly he talked about his world concerns.

“I respect the magic of nature… that’s why I’m so angry when every second a size of a football field torn down in the Amazon…”

“That’s why I wrote these kinds of songs, it set the sense of awareness, awakening and hope to people…I love the planet, I love the trees, the colours…”

Like all his concerts, in each song, there would be projections, fire play in the stage, bulldozer that came out from the background in Earth Song, and zombie stunts for Thriller.

Michael also made 3D reinvention video clips of Thriller that featured in the concert.

This Is It Facts

- The film’s trailer itself has drawn almost 2.5m viewer on You Tube.

- The legendary song “Thriller” was meant to be made as a film by Michael Jackson.

Michael Jackson and The Jackson 4 - A Review

This is a movie to be seen with the family. This is a movie to be seen if you LOVE Michael Jackson. This is a movie to be seen to get an idea of how amazing MJ is. This is a movie that made be cry. This is a movie of inspiration. This is it.

When the movie started up with the interviews of the dancers, I was confused and kept thinking, “Get on with it. I want to see Michael.” Then the concert started and I was in awe. Michael is… inspiring, talented, funny, kind, and just all around amazing. I would have loved to meet him and see an actual concert. “This is It” came from the heart of the director and editor and Michael. The choreography was spectacular, Michael’s voice was great as ever, and Michael looked so good! Screw the people who rag on Michael, screw the people who think he is undeserving of life, screw the people who don’t respect the King of Pop.

Also, we are now down to the Jackson 4 or as A&E’s new show about them calls the group: The Jack5ons. I will be watching (December 13 9/8 central on A&E)!

If you love Michael Jackson, see “This is It”. If you love the Jackson 5, tune into their new show “The Jack5ons: A Family Dynasty. And if you love me, naw! I’m not going to be selfish in this post. ^_^

Young and Late Michael Jackson - R.I.P.

Be Grateful I'm Here

My body is reject everything near it and I can’t shake anything off but the one thing it still loves is music so here’s a little remedy consisting of mostly melody. I even threw in six today just because I was feeling cheery.

Estelle: Wait A Minute (Just A Touch) – Such a beautiful blend of modern hip-hop and easy listening – not to mention Estelle’s voice is like smooth molasses. It’s a great song with a fantastic beat. I don’t like a lot of female singers but she is an exception.

At The Drive-In: Cosmonaut – Absolutely brutal song. Out of this band’s ashes came Mars Volta and Sparta but before those creative giants At The Drive in did a marvelous job of merging progressive rock and hardcore music. If you haven’t been introduced to this group before – you’re welcome.

Methods Of Mayhem: Crash – Mr. Tommy Lee is a maniac and it comes through in vivid colors on this track. It’s a beat-bashing, head-banging, adrenaline rush and I’m going to warn you now not to put this in your car.

Michael Jackson: Get On The Floor – This is my favorite MJ Song ever recorded. It takes us back to his early days with Quincy Jones and will make you remember why he’s so respected in the music community. “Off The Wall” was probably a better album that “Triller”. Just saying…

Kings Of Leon: Crawl - Ok, so they’re getting really big really fast and I’m not on board yet but I do love this track. They have a lot of potential and I hope they don’t turn into the next Pearl Jam and they find a way to separate themselves with their own unique sound.

Temposhark: Joy – I’m not sure this band will ever become noteworthy because their new CD is really super gay. On the upside at least they recorded this awesome electronic jam. If you never listen to anything else they record you’ll still be ok in my books but this track is worth your time.

new brew from Hair of the Dog

Alan Sprints has crafted another special release celebrating a great beer advocate. This time it’s a Flanders Red with the name of Michael. Since, it’s an HoD beer, I fully expect it to be the most complex red ever.

There will also be a release party today where you can also get this rare beer…Matt, a bourbon and apple Eau de Vie barrel-aged sour originally designed to commemorate Bottleworks’ (Seattle) tenth anniversary.

Michael Jackson's "This Is IT"

“This Is It” is it! I have always been caught up in the spectacle of Michael Jackson since I was a little boy, growing up listening to his music, watching his videos and doing all that I could to mimic his dance moves and I have to say, sitting in the theatre watching Michael and his genius today, was just as awe inspiring. I wasn’t in my seat just watching, I was in my seat taking in his steps, that is when I wasn’t standing up dancing along with him and his background dancers, who had no chance of keeping up with him.

Everyone seems to want to talk about MJ and his life being so turbulent and weird but I feel that we should be focused on his genius and his contributions to music and to the world. I’ll admit that one can not totally erase his ‘mishaps’ from memory but why make his mistakes a focus? (Oh, yeah, almost forgot I am speaking of human beings.) Well others can focus on MJ’s many issues but I am going to focus on his abilities to inspire and delight everyone from age 1 to age 115.

“This Is It” is another example of all that MJ encompassed: fun, fantasy, love, excitment, escapism, inspiration and something to hold on to for the remainder of our days. If you have not seen it, I encourage you to see it and if you are one of the millions who have seen it ‘CONGRAtULATIONS,’ I know your life was changed for the better. “This Is It” receives 5 out of 5 stars from me and Michael, you have always been 5 star to me and you will live on in our heats, souls, minds and bodies for as long as Man can dance.

Buttercup

This past Tuesday saw the release of ‘I Want You Back! Unreleased Masters‘ – a collection of The Jackson 5’s unreleased demos, rare songs and such. The stand-out track here is a never before released Michael Jackson song, ‘Buttercup’. The song was written by Jackson’s long time family friend Stevie Wonder. You can tell from his vocals that this was not Michael as a little kid in The Jackson 5 – this is young adult Michael – sounding soulful as ever. I’m loving this; it already feels like a classic I’ve known and loved for years.

Film Review - Michael Jackson's This is it (2009), Michael Jackson Memorial

Author: Todd Murphy
Source: ezinearticles.com

BOTTOM LINE: A fitting tribute to the late Michael Jackson, “This Is It” provides well edited rehearsal footage of those performances he was due to give in London which fans will no doubt cherish, although this pseudo-documentary, “Michael Jackson“, could have had more coverage of Jackson’s interactions with those around him rather than the fleeting glimpses we are ultimately given.

THE GOOD: No story was bigger in the entertainment world this year than the untimely passing of the King of Pop Michael Jackson. Due to give his final concert tour in London, Jackson had a documentary crew follow every stage of its preparation for his personal archive. Concert director Kenny Ortega has now assembled moments from this footage in to a fitting tribute documentary of the man himself and his final months putting together the show that would have topped all those that came before. Fans will no doubt cherish this piece of history, and non-fans have much to enjoy as well as “This Is It” takes us through all of Jackson’s biggest hits, including rehearsal footage, newly filmed sequences for the video screen in the concert, and some personal moments of the man himself where if nothing else, we get to see how professional and perfectionist he was at getting the songs right for the fans. At some points, Jackson pushes his crew, dancers and singers to get it right, but at no point do you think it is to satisfy his ego because every time he keeps telling them, “I want the song to sound like it does on the records; that’s what the fans want.” Clearly a lot of work had gone in to this concert, with the, “Michael Jackson“, new 3D sequences for Jackson’s biggest single “Thriller” and the new short film for “Smooth Criminal” being quite astonishing in their production value as examples shown in this documentary. However, the bulk of the documentary is about the music, with each of his big songs remixed and played throughout, broken up occasionally by the odd interview here and there, and some behind the scenes moments with Jackson and his crew. What is quite fascinating about this documentary is that despite an odd moment here or there, Michael Jackson still had ‘it’ even at the age of 50. “This Is It” celebrates Michael Jackson as the consummate artist who wanted to give the fans what they wanted one last time, and if nothing else can be said about the man, this documentary does bring out why he was so popular with so many people, and why he was the King Of Pop.

THE BAD: Although technically a documentary, “This Is It” is more or less a two hour MTV clip, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it does cry out for more of those behind the scenes moments with the man himself. Here and there in this documentary we see personal moments of Michael Jackson interacting with his crew and they are gold, but just when you cannot get enough of it, the next song cues up and we are back in to MTV mode. Those moments are too few and fleeting. Given we are told at the beginning that this documentary crew followed the whole set up of the concert through to final rehearsals, surely there must have been more footage that could have been used of Jackson himself away from the performances. Director Kenny Ortega might argue that he was trying to present a glimpse of what the concert might have been, but given Jackson’s untimely death just prior to this concert series, it may have been better to present something more broad; a documentary that would have explored Jackson beyond this concert series as a proper tribute of his entire career and life.

Conclusione: Consigliatissimo.

Voto: 9

long live the King.

This Is It was the bomb. seriously. I LOVE IT. this is an MJ post. (:

My life will never be the same, ’cause girl, you came and changed the way I walk, the way I talk. I cannot explain the things I feel for you, but girl, you know it’s true, stay with me, fulfill my dreams and I’ll be all you’ll need. You rocked my world, you know you did, and everything I own I give (you rocked my world), the rarest love, who’d think I’d find, someone like you to call mine (you rocked my world).

You rocked my world, you know you did, Michael Jackson.

This is it!

This Is It!

I söndags såg mami och jag This is it.

Gossip....

Fail Tweet of the Day:

DJWhooKid: Hate it when toiletbowl water rises too high and then you wipe and splash – and don’t you dare touch somethin by mistake – YIPES

1. Mad House
2. Wait Your Turn
3. Hard featuring Young Jeezy
4. Stupid In Love
5. ROCKSTAR 101 featuring Slash
6. Russian Roulette
7. Fire Bomb
8. Rude Boy
9. Photographs featuring Will.I.Am
10. G4L
11. Te Amo
12. Cold Case Love
13. The Last Song

Enjoy the next leak: Rihanna ft. Young Jeezy “Hard”

This Is It and other Scattered Thoughts

(1) I went to see This Is It yesterday. Originally, I was opposed to seeing it because I didn’t want AEG to make more money from Michael. However, when I read reviews of it online, I changed my mind. And I’m glad I did. The tour would have been amazing. I’m not convinced he was healthy enough to do 50 shows. I think it would have been an awesome one night only HBO special of some sort. Michael’s voice was still amazing and at age 50, he still had incredible dance moves!

(2) Apparently this month is National Novel Writing Month. Maybe, I should begin to gather ideas and finally get that thing started. If I keep putting it off, it will never get done.  Maybe that is the calling that I have been missing.  Maybe that is part of the reason my life feels so unfulfilled.

(3) I was very disappointed with the first 3 Cavs games this season. However, they looked pretty good against the Bobcats last night. Now that Delonte is back, they seem to be more complete.

~ Forever MJ

This Is It was phenomenal. The film was a pure musical experience and a sincere masterpiece. It was MJ in the musical raw and I consumed each moment of  it.

I didn’t want the film to end; I knew once it was over, I would have to say goodbye to Michael again. The film made me feel close to Michael. I had a peak into his world; minus the paparazzi, scheduled interviews, and “putting on a show”.  It was just simply Michael.

I was inspired by the film. On other hand, I left feeling incredibly sad. Watching Michael in the film, I felt that he could be my friend. He had a sense of humor. He was dedicated to the music. He believed in love for others. He was very concerned about the state of the world. Easily, he could have been my friend.

I fell in love with Michael all over again.  But now, I love him beyond the music.   He is one of my musical heroes and I am forever grateful for what he gave this world . . .his life and the music.  `

WHO’S BAD ?!?!
