Hardly a single newspaper missed the attention-grabbing stunt by Kanye West at last weekend’s MTV Video Music Awards. When Taylor Swift went on stage to accept her award for Best Music Video, West snatched the microphone from her and stated ‘We all know Beyonce really had the Best Video!’. This ruined Swift’s acceptance speech, as one would expect.
However, the media buck never stops at fact. A spoof viral storyis now doing the rounds, West was likely to show up at Patrick Swayze’s funeral and leap up to the podium, stating that during a service held to remember the life and career Patrick Swayze, West barged his way into the pastor’s pulpit, comandeered the mic, and in the words that he spoke to Taylor Swift, Kanye said ‘I am happy for you Patrick and I’ll let them finish your service in a minute, but I just wanted to say that Michael Jackson had one of the best funerals ever!’
Not at all in good taste, but it shows you how quickly news goes viral online.
Some say the West-Swift gag was planned, but judging from Swift’s reaction, I think not. US President Obama has been quoted on the matter too, stating that West is a ‘jack ass’ for stealing Swift’s glory. Wonder what Beyonce thinks of all this?
